Known for his interdisciplinary practice uniting sound, film, and performance, Greek-British artist Mikhail Karikis creates works shaped by a deep sense of social and environmental responsibility. This richly illustrated monograph, published in conjunction with his large-scale solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum St.Gallen, presents his latest participatory projects, which explore the intertwined themes of voice, community, and ecological transformation. Featuring essays by international authors, as well as a conversation between Karikis and artist-collaborators Sonia Boyce and Zineb Sedira, the publication offers a comprehensive view of Karikis’s experimental and socially engaged approach. Like the artist’s audiovisual compositions, the book is an invitation to listen more attentively—to others, to the environment, and to the political power of sound. What happens when you fuse an exhibition format with a versatile space for daily domestic encounters? Since 2019, the Palazzina team has explored this question in three different neighborhoods. Palazzina. Ring Everywhere pairs installation views from 30 projects featuring 100+ artists with essays by Ingo Niermann, Nora Joung, Cassiane C. Pfund, Ines Goldbach, and an interview with Palazzina members moderated by Marlene Marti Bürgi.
